Define revenue before choosing a format
For a retailer, a useful outcome might be purchases after returns; for a service business, qualified appointments that become paid work. Views and likes explain attention but do not establish profit. Document the product, audience, sales cycle and next step. Avoid universal claims that video receives a fixed reach multiplier: results depend on the creative, audience and distribution. Begin with a commercial question your reporting can actually answer, such as which offer produces enquiries the sales team can serve.
Build an audience and message hypothesis
Use customer interviews, sales questions and existing analytics to understand the problem and objections. For a hypothetical interiors business, renovation buyers may want to understand project disruption before requesting a quote. That suggests a walkthrough rather than an unrelated trending clip. Treat this as a hypothesis to test. Do not assume everyone in an age group prefers one platform or that a competitor's popular post will work for your business. Record why you expect the proposed message to help.
Plan a journey from discovery to action
Choose repeatable themes: explaining a problem, demonstrating the product, answering objections and showing the next step. A weekly plan might contain a demonstration, an answer to a pricing question and a customer story used with permission. Each piece should have one purpose. Link a product demonstration to the relevant item and a service explanation to a suitable consultation page. Avoid directing every visitor to a generic homepage. Make the promised information easy to find before asking someone to commit.
Make conversion tracking testable
Use consistent campaign tags and define meaningful website events. Test a completed enquiry and purchase before judging the campaign. Log direct-message enquiries and outcomes in a CRM workflow. Separate platform reporting from website analytics because attribution methods differ. GA4 uses key events and provides attribution-path reporting; it cannot record every influence perfectly. Cross-device use, offline conversations and consent choices can leave gaps. Document how a lead becomes qualified so the marketing and sales teams count the same outcome.
Run a controlled creative test
Choose one decision: whether a demonstration or an objection-answering video produces more qualified enquiries. Keep the offer and destination comparable and define a review window and spending limit. Example test plan: create two concepts with two opening variations each, then record production hours, eligible impressions, visits and qualified leads. This is a proposed experiment, not a performance benchmark. Report small samples as directional. Do not declare a strategy successful solely because one post collects an unusually large view count.
Calculate value and improve the bottleneck
Hypothetical example: a campaign costs INR 12,000 including production and promotion, produces 20 qualified leads and four sales. Cost per qualified lead is INR 600. If each sale contributes INR 4,000 after direct fulfilment, contribution before campaign cost is INR 16,000 and after campaign cost is INR 4,000. These are illustrative numbers, not client results. Compare with your acquisition target. If visits do not become leads, review the offer and landing page; if leads do not become sales, review qualification and follow-up before increasing posting volume.
